Martin says he was a bit starstruck. "To play with remarkable musicians and then have them play my music was a big thrill," Martin says. "When I was in the studio and heard Vince and Dolly singing my song, I thought about all the great songwriters who never get that shot."

Gill has long been a fan of Martin's musical talent. "A lot of people assumed his banjo was a prop, but I knew it wasn't because I'd heard him play," Gill says. "I knew he had a musician's heart."

Cameron B Sharpe News:
Whether or not you agree with Irv Gotti that Jay-Z is a better MC than Eminem, Gotti is passionate about hip-hop, just like all of you people reading this. I.G. knew Jay back in the day, when Hov was standing on a pool table battle rapping, and he's been on the receiving end of some of Slim Shady's famously sharp punch lines. Is Irv showing favoritism toward his homie? Is he still sour about his quarrels with the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit factions? He says no, but we definitely want to know what you guys think about his assessment in our comments section.

Also today, we have Chicago singer Jeremih (Chi, what up? Mixtape Daily will be out there soon, homies). The cat came out of nowhere to lock things down on the radio for the past several weeks with "Birthday Sex." He started singing seriously only a couple of years ago, but he writes his own lyrics and makes his own beats. He says he's going to be here for a while. Can he be the Derrick Rose of R&B? He's off to a great start.

After a six-year hiatus, Julian "JuJu" Marley is back with his third album, "Awake."

The Ghetto Youths/Universal release, which he co-produced with his brothers Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley and Stephen Marley, drew inspiration from the spirit of Cedella Marley Booker, their grandmother (and Bob Marley's mother), who died in 2008.

Marley spoke to Billboard about maturing as an artist, youth-on-youth crime and the family legacy that inspires his music.

Cameron Sharpe The true story
As for pressure to follow up "Riot's" success, Farro says that "there's always gonna be pressure. We tried to push that aside and just make a record we loved. The fans might not like it, and they might think it's too different and whatnot, but at the end of the day we love it and that's the best we can do."

The drummer expects Paramore to do "some heavy touring, like we always do" once the new album is released. But don't expect to see the group, whose "Decode" was a hit from last year's "Twilight" soundtrack, to be haunting subsequent editions of the series.

"We don't want to be, like, the vampire house band," he explains. "It was really fun to be a part of that, and great exposure, but I think 'Twilight' was it for us. We don't want to seem like we're trying to get in every single movie they put out."
